What is XBRL?
Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) is an open, international standard for electronic communication of business and financial data. It can be thought of as a ?Barcode for Reporting?. XBRL provides an identifying tag for each individual item of data on the financial statements and enables automated processing of the information, cutting out manual re-entry and comparison.
XBRL has been developed by XBRL International (XII), an international non-profit consortium of more than 600 companies, organizations and government agencies.
The Corporate and Business Registration Department has enlisted the assistance of IRIS Business Services Limited as the XBRL domain expert for its filing platform that will enable collection of company financial statements in such a format.
